We exhibited Japanese Style Tien-Gow at Tokyo Game Dungeon 9.
Tokyo Game Dungeon is an exhibition event for digital indie games made by individuals and small teams in Japan.
Visitors can try games, buy them, and talk directly with developers at the venue.
The event itself is also run by an individual game creator.

What Stood Out

The booth setup was almost the same as at DigiGame Expo:
one desk-sized space with a laptop and monitor for trying the single-player mode and tutorial of Japanese Style Tien-Gow.
This time, however, we also brought a real set of Tien-Gow tiles.
That helped visitors become interested in the theme itself,
and it worked well as part of the introduction when explaining the game.

Player Response

The response was again generally positive.
Some visitors enjoyed it a great deal once they started playing.
At the same time, the number of purchases was still limited compared with the number of people who had a good experience,
which reminded us that strong booth impressions and actual sales do not always line up.

One memorable moment was meeting visitors we had also seen at DigiGame Expo.
They had not come specifically looking for us, and they did not know in advance that we would be exhibiting there.
Still, running into the same audience again at a different event made us think more carefully about how we choose where to exhibit.

Going Forward

For future events, we want to prepare something visitors can take home.
Even if they do not buy the game on the spot,
having a flyer would give them a way to remember the game later.

Both DigiGame Expo and this Tokyo Game Dungeon appearance were held in Tokyo,
so if we continue exhibiting, it may make more sense to try a different region next time.
Repeated event appearances have shown us that not only booth design,
but also the choice of where to exhibit, matters.
